Dick Harpootlian and other local Armenian-Americans need to move over and make room for one of their ethnic brethren who is apparently making a last-minute entry into the race for Columbia mayor.

I base that on the headline of a message I just got from Richland County Democrats:

RCDP’s Breakfast welecomes Steve Benjamaian!

Maybe this new guy isn’t Armenian, but that’s what the name looks like to me. I take it that “welecome” is Armenian for “welcome.”

By the way, the event being promoted in the message is at Mac’s on Main at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
