GOP’s loving this: Larry Flynt backs Rob Miller

You didn’t read it here first — Adam had it in one of his TPS reports — but poor (I say “poor” figuratively, since he’s sitting on a multi-million-dollar warchest) Rob Miller has a nightmare supporter: Larry Flynt.

After calling Joe Wilson a rude name that we don’t use on family blogs, the purveyor of Hustler, wrote on his blog (along with other stuff I won’t repeat):

Make a donation to Rob Miller, Joe Wilson’s Democratic opponent in the 2010 elections. (Miller’s Web site is RobMillerForCongress.com.)

Yes, Larry Flynt’s blog. Just knowing he, too, is a blogger kinda makes me feel… grubby. It really IS an anyone-can-play medium, isn’t it?

Bad as he may be, Larry Flynt is a First Amendment defender (for perhaps icky reasons, but still). I’m guessing Joe has some endorsers who are far scarier, no?

Larry Flynt is no angel. I could wish he’d keep quiet about whom he supports, but I’ve got to agree with Kathryn in that there are almost certainly far worse on the other side. Given Rep. Wilson’s demonstrated behavior, I could make an argument that HE’s more dangerous. But I’d also say that he’s no defender of 1st amendment rights; he just wants to go on making money and garnering celebrity. It’s his lawyers who are defending 1st amendment rights, and the people of the US who are continuing to support those rights.

“You didn’t read it here first…”

So true. I read it a couple of weeks ago, which makes me wonder what’s your point for regurgitating it now? It comes across as a backdoor disparagement of Ron Miller(you’ve made it pretty clear on several occasions that he’s not one of your political “friends”).

No fan of Flynt am I, but he did his homework on Addison Graves Wilson and has every right to express his opinion(s). In total agreement with the ladies above and their observations of who is more dangerous in this endorsement game.

IMHO both Flynt and Wilson are bottom feeders in their respective “career worlds”. Perhaps that’s why he was able to pigeonhole Addison so well. As my grandmother used to say, “It takes one to know one”.
